The Chilean Journal of Pediatric Pulmonology is the official dissemination body of the Chilean Society of Pediatric Pulmonology, exclusively dedicated to children’s respiratory health.
It started off as the Pediatric Pulmonology Bulletin in April 2003. The journal was born in 2005 and Dr. Luis Enrique Vega-Briceño was its main editor during its first 8 years of existence, working with great dedication, professionalism and an admirable devotion, which laid the foundations and guidelines of the journal. In 2007, it was named a diffusion journal of the Latin American Society of Pediatric Pulmonology (SOLANEP) during its VII Annual Congress. Since 2009 it has been part of the LATINDEX, LILACS (Latin American Literature in Health Sciences) and BIREME database, acquiring the commitment to publish 4 annual editions. Dr. María Solange Caussade was its editor between 2014 and 2018, who worked with excellence and great tenacity, maintaining its commitments of quality and periodicity and achieving greater participation in Latin America.
The current editorial group, chaired by Dr. Marcela Linares, has proposed the challenge of generating the necessary conditions to be able to index the journal to other databases with greater visibility and impact (Scopus, UNAM, Scielo). As of the 2nd issue of the 2019, all articles will be published in Spanish and English, which will increase its dissemination and accessibility.
Its mission is to publish review articles, clinical cases, research articles, related to the respiratory health of children and adolescents. The target audience covers the spectrum of professionals dedicated to pediatric respiratory health: pulmonologists, pediatricians, health therapists, nurses, medical and kinesiology students. The journal is a source of updated and quality information to contribute to the excellence of work of professionals dedicated to children and adolescent’s respiratory health.
